Position Overview

The Quality Engineer position is responsible for development, management and improvement on new and existing TCR quality system elements to enhance or maintain their value to our customers, effectiveness and/or impact to the company. This role will also provide the opportunity to be groomed for a Quality Management role. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities/Key Responsibilities/Key Duties
  • Develops, implements, and improves core quality processes to ensure processes meet requirements (including, but not limited to: corrective action, preventive action, non-conformity process, document control).
  • Oversees and participates in the internal audit program, ensuring a complete and effective business audit plan. Monitors status to ensure completion of the audit plan.
  • Translates applicable quality standards into organizational structure and processes. Develops an understanding of user processes related to standard requirements, leading to gap identification and continual improvement opportunities.
  • Develops and conducts training related to core quality processes and problem solving tools, ensuring understanding and effectiveness of materials delivered.
  • Represents TCR in the support of customer and regulatory audits and visits. Drives closure coordination of any reported non-conformities.
  • Managing the new part introduction quality processes and revisions to existing parts.
  • Establishing control plans for new and existing parts based on process capability and historical run data.
  • Implementing and auditing in-process checking of parts and assemblies.
  • Ensuring Gage R&R studies and process capability studies are done correctly.
  • Ensuring the ISO/TS quality requirements are met and further develop the program.
Desired and/or Required Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a quality engineer, automotive industry preferred. 
  • Experience with either ISO 9001:2008, TS or AS quality systems. 
  • QMS Certification
  • APQP and 8D Problem Solving
  • Good mechanical aptitude and methodical problem solving skills.
  • Lean knowledge/experience in implementation.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and multi-task.
  • Proficient computer skills and demonstrated competence to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
  • Knowledge of calibration, inspecting methods, blue print reading, statistics, quality charting, and process capability.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills.
  • Six Sigma training, green belt or black belt certified preferred.
Required Education
  • BA/BS in Quality/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer or equivalent experience.
